MEET DR. MELISSA

Hello, I’m Dr. Melissa Morrow (Dr. Melissa to my young patients!) Although I grew up in Santa Monica, California, I’ve lived and worked in this area since 1991. I am married to family dentist Dr. Donald Morrow (aka Dr. Don), and we share a dental office here in Haslett. I also have three adult children, and our family resides in Williamston. When we’re not caring for patients, my husband and I enjoy gardening, and bow hunting.  My personal hobbies are beekeeping, stain glass and cycling.

EDUCATION
My education includes a doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degree from Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition, I completed two years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry, serving as chief resident at Mott Children’s Health Center/Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan. (Both the health center and hospital are now part of the University of Michigan Pediatric Dental Residency Program.) Prior to completing dental school, I earned a bachelor’s degree in biological science from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California.

PROFESSIONAL
On a professional level, I am certified in pediatric dentistry by the State of Michigan and maintain memberships in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Dental Association, and the Michigan Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. In addition, I maintain my physician staff privileges at Sparrow Hospital in order to treat children requiring general anesthesia. I am also an adjunct clinical professor at the University of Michigan Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry. Lastly, I have published several articles in professional journals on tongue cancer, replacement of lost primary teeth, and treatment modalities in administering anesthesia.

THE TEAM
We take great pride in staffing our office with qualified, enthusiastic, caring and sensitive personnel. Retaining TEAM members over a long period of time is one of our goals. This provides for long-term recognition on the part of both parents and children, which is very important in a pediatric practice and gives everyone a sense of consistency, comfort and familiarity. It is reassuring to our parents and their children in that we recognize them, remember them and care about them----they feel right at home!

Jenn and Kay our receptionists will always answer your call with a smile. They all are very helpful and strive to schedule convenient appointments for you and to solve the red tape of the insurance world.

Our pediatric dental assistants and hygienists have received academic and in-service training that prepares them to meet the unique dental needs of children. They are experienced healthcare professionals, and they play a key role in assisting Dr. Melissa in her care and treatment of young patients.

Mikaela caring and sensitive personality helps to make the dental experience as relaxing and comfortable as is possible for all of our patients. She provides care for each child at each appointment as if it were the first and as if the child were her own… lots of T.L.C.

Last but not least, our registered dental hygienists, Raquel and Simona. They have a passion for educating our families in diet and nutrition and equipping them with proper hygiene skills as well as providing a professional cleaning and polishing of their teeth. They make the overall new patient and 6 month check-up appointments successful and enjoyable.
